Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). SEPTA's mission is to deliver safe, courteous, convenient and dependable public transit services for the people of Greater Philadelphia, contributing to the region's economic vitality, sustainability and enhanced quality of life. As the nation’s sixth largest public transportation agency, we serve approximately one million riders each weekday in the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia. We employ over 9000 people in jobs ranging from bus operators, to police officers, to trades people such as mechanics, welders, electricians, building maintainers, HVAC specialists, and plumbers. We also employ engineers, graphic designers, accountants, lawyers, city planners, communications and IT professionals.
